Hiking holiday on Lake Achensee

A hiking holiday in Tyrol is undoubtedly one of the most popular holiday activities in the whole of Europe. Not only because hiking in the healthy mountain air promotes health and fitness, but also because you’re spoilt with a real feast for the eyes when you see the fantastic natural surroundings of Tyrol.

Through magnificent, healthy forests, over green alpine meadows, past huge mountain ranges, along rushing waterfalls and crystal clear mountain lakes – the region around Lake Achensee is thoroughly enchanting with its fairy-tale natural beauty and idyllic charm. Ambitious hiking fans and leisurely hikers can expect fascinating views of nature and a breathtaking panorama when following around 500 kilometres of marked hiking trails.

Excellent hiking trails in Tyrol

A hiking holiday on Lake Achensee is particularly impressive due to the variety of hiking trails and mountain tours. The offer ranges from simple routes for strolling, through to comfortable family paths for young and old alike, to demanding hiking routes for adventurous mountain climbers. Traditional alpine huts and inns invite you to stop for refreshments on all trails and to enjoy homemade specialties so that you can regain your strength for the rest of the route. Holidaymakers can rely on the quality and safety of the signposted hiking trails as evidenced by Tyrol’s seal of approval for mountain trails. For example, hiking trails that stand out for their rural beauty, rare plants or special views are specially marked. On Lake Achensee, three paths bear the title “Tiroler Bergweg mit Auszeichnung”, which roughly translates to “exceptional Tyrol mountain path”: namely the Kaisersteg in Achenkirch, the Enzianweg in Maurach and the Lamsenspitze in Pertisau.

Popular routes in the Karwendel and Rofan mountains

Experienced hikers can test their skills on the seven-hour Mondscheinspitze hiking tour, as part of which 12 kilometres and 937 metres of altitude difference must be overcome. However, if you prefer a quieter approach to your hiking holiday, the route to the Seekaralm, which starts directly at Lake Achensee in Achenkirch, is the best option. The ravine hikes around Lake Achensee have also become famous. A hike along the narrow Wolfsklamm gorge, which leads from Stans in the Inn Valley to the St. Georgenburg Monastery, is particularly noteworthy. But the Tiefenbachklamm gorge or the Kaiserklamm gorge, through both of which the Brandenberger Ache flows, also make the heart of every hiker beat faster. Various hiking routes in the Achensee region can be easily reached by cable car. However, you don’t, of course, have to explore the beautiful mountain nature around Lake Achensee alone if you don’t want to. Wellnessresidenz Alpenrose offers all holidaymakers and guests guided hikes, where you can explore the Karwendel and Rofan mountains in good company and with the support of professional hiking guides.
