The lake in summer

Mountains and lakes, forests and meadows, rolling alpine pastures and majestic peaks: some of Tyrol’s most beautiful natural landscapes unfold right around the Alpenrose. Just outside our front door lies the Karwendel Alpine Park—a unique nature reserve with stunning flora and fauna that invites you to enjoy unforgettable experiences in nature.

As part of our hiking weeks and summer activity program, you’ll discover the quiet, unspoiled beauty of nature several times a week on guided hikes with our staff—step by step, at your own pace.

Reaching for the stars

Hiking & Climbing

The Achensee region is considered one of the top destinations for hiking and climbing enthusiasts. With around 250 sport climbing routes, several via ferratas, and classic alpine routes, it offers ideal conditions for both beginners and experienced mountaineers—and has already made history with mountaineering legends such as Hermann Buhl.

Nordic walkers also find ideal conditions around Lake Achensee: from challenging mountain trails to leisurely, enjoyable loops. Those seeking something extraordinary can experience the impressive mountain and lake landscape from the air on a tandem flight.

Free for our guests

Hiking at no extra charge

In the summer, our experienced hiking and activities team takes you on guided tours several times a week through the stunning natural surroundings of the Alpenrose. Together, you’ll discover idyllic alpine pastures, shady forests, and sunny high-altitude trails, while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views—including a cozy stop at a mountain hut.

We’ve got you covered with the right gear: During your stay, we provide a wide range of sports and hiking equipment free of charge. From hiking boots and poles to backpacks, rain gear, and Nordic walking poles, as well as bicycles, high-quality mountain bikes, e-bikes, and helmets. Of course, we’ll also provide a hiking snack for the trail.

This makes staying active at the Alpenrose simple, enjoyable, and completely relaxing.

The Karwendel Bergbahnen in Pertisau and the Rofanbahn in Maurach offer the most beautiful panoramic views.

On a bike

Mountain bikes and e-bikes

A paradise for mountain bikers—amateurs and experts alike agree. Around Lake Achensee, you can explore beautiful landscapes on a mountain bike. Perfectly signposted trails offer just the right level of challenge.

 250 km of well-marked and approved cycling and mountain biking trails—ranging from “gentle temptations” to “tough challenges”—await all two-wheel enthusiasts. Scenic and beautifully maintained—after all, the Achensee region ranks among the top biking regions in the Alps.

A look inside the Alpenrose bike shop

  • Our “racing team” features around 60 well-maintained mountain bikes and bicycles, including the latest e-bikes. Just pick one and start pedaling;
  • Our highly trained recreation staff also serve as guides for guided mountain bike tours; several times a week in the summer, they invite you to join them for “leg training” while biking;

Golf by the Lake

Your gaze wanders into the distance, lingers for a moment on the shimmering surface of Lake Achensee, then shifts back to the golf ball—and you tee off. Right into the magnificent mountain panorama, it seems. This is Alpine golf at its finest. The 18-hole golf course in Pertisau at the foot of the Karwendel is one of the most beautiful courses in the Alpine region. The Achensee Golf and Country Club, founded in 1934, is the second oldest in Austria. The elegant layout and the wonderful location on Tyrol’s largest lake make the course a true golfing gem.
