Adventure on Lake Achen
Swimming, sailing, kite surfing, diving – or taking a trip on the excursion ship, exploring the steep banks of the lake and travelling to tourist attractions. The up to 133 m deep Lake Achen, the largest lake in Tyrol, is a real adventurer's paradise. In the wider region, meanwhile, plenty of other challenges await those daring enough to try them...
On the water and in the air
Paragliding – either alone or as part of a tandem team – is a popular summertime leisure activity. It is similarly intoxicating when water and wind come together on Lake Achen, creating the right conditions for sailors, surfers and kite surfers to feel in their element.
EYRIE FOR BIPEDS: This viewing platform on the Gschöllkopf mountain on the Rofan ridge offers a magnificent panoramic view from an altitude of 2,000 metres. A 360° panorama, beyond the borders of Tyrol into Bavaria, over to the Zillertal Alps – from this bird's eye view it feels like you can see the whole world. Everyday life in the valley below looks very far away from up here.
And for anyone who gets the urge to fly – you can! With the AIRROFAN Skyglider you'll feel like you're flying with eagle's wings. Attaining speeds of 85 km/h, this kite-like device glides along a cable towards the skies, 200 metres up into the air. Sensational is the best word to describe the view of Lake Achen and the mountain landscape from up here. A truly unforgettable holiday experience for brave souls.
